Florida Correctional Officer Trainee dies on obligation during firearms coaching

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Florida Section of Corrections has declared the passing of just one of its own, Correctional Officer Trainee Whitney Cloud.

Cloud was assigned to the Jefferson Correctional Institution, and she was enrolled in teaching at the Harry K. Singletary Instruction Academy at Wakulla Correctional Institution in Crawfordville. She began operate with the division in June of this year.

According to a press release from the Department of Corrections, Cloud seems to have been wounded “by an accidental discharge for the duration of firearms training” on Thursday, August 26th.

DOC reviews no other personnel were concerned in the incident.

Cloud was transported to a nearby clinic exactly where she passed absent.

DOC Secretary Mark Inch unveiled a assertion about the incident.
